In their native country, the Faeroes Island, the music style of TYR is called Kvæðamálmur, meaning ballad metal in english. The four boys are very connected with their homeland and their history. This is the reason why most of the songs tell us about faeroeric ballads. TYR plays a melodic and harmonic variation of folk and viking metal with strong progressive influences. But the most impressive thing is that TYR uses clear voices only. They don’t use typical growls in their songs which makes them unique in this genre once more. In their lyrics they speak about the Nordic mythology and the history of their home. That’s why they sing in Faeroerish, Danish or Icelandic language also and prove their uniqueness with that once more.
